Well here I am, sitting just outside our tent at Cumberland River, just outside of Lorne, on the Surf Coast in Victoria Australia, Planet Earth.
I am looking at the river now, with its tiny little rock rapids, and listening to it’s soothing sounds.
About 20 metres from where I am, just on the other side of the river, is a rock-face. It reaches up higher than the tree tops, only giving us a small glimpse of the night sky.
Last night we were all in bed at about 10:30, not because we were tired, (even though we were) but because it seemed so damned late.
Kylie says she wants to be a Kookaburra, because one just landed about 5 metres from where I am sitting, and allowed us to take a few pictures of it.
Last night after we went to bed, the wind (typhoon) set in. The tent miraculously survived, but it scared the crap out of all of us.
We were just driving into Lorne, and we saw a bunch of people stopped on the side of the road. It was either a car crash, or a whale, and either way, it was a great photo opportunity!
About 100 metres off from the shore, was a mother Whale, and it’s young baby.
If the photos turn out, I will be sure to post a few on my website.
So far this has been a totally super trip.
Thanks Cassie for inviting me to come!
see ya soon
